The Railway Children; an affectionate adaptation of the great children's novel capturing the innocence of childhood and the comfy certainties of a bygone era. Not that their world is boring, they meet a wry bunch of characters, save a train from derailment and harbour a Bolshevik refugee etc. A high nostalgia count.

A beautifully filmed adaptation of Frances Hodgson Burnett's magical story of a young orphan girl sent to her uncle's house, where she discovers a hidden garden. As the garden blossoms it symbolises the recuperative effect she has on the whole household, especially her young bedridden young cousin. An enchanting story and a superb cast.
